The first Western-style building in Tendo.
Currently seen in the label of our Junmai Sake. |
Because
his
Sake
brewery has become well under way, he started other businesses.
In 1925, he decided to begin soy sauce and build a factory in
the center of Tendo-City. The 3-story building was made of a lot
of concrete and marble, and that was the first Western-style building
in Tendo. And at the time of recession, he created a Japanese
garden called "Gokuraku-en" as the relief measure for
the unemployment. "Gokuraku-en" literally means "hardship
and paradise park". He wanted to encourage people saying
there are always good times and bed times. This park is now open
o the public and is visited by many tourists.
At
the latter part of his period, he invested to Sakhalin Island
(currently Russian territory), but that did not bear fruits. Yasaku,
the entrepreneur, was retired from all the business in 1931, and
settled in "Gokuraku-en". Sake business was succeeded
to his fist son "Mitsuo".
